Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle has claimed that he had "lost faith" with manager Lee Clark, prompting the club to axe the coach.
The surprise sacking of the 39-year-old came last week after the League One side dropped out of the automatic promotion places.
"I had lost faith in [Clark's] ability to get the club into the top two," Hoyle told BBC Radio Leeds.
"I had also lost the faith that in a play-off final he could do it. The pressure would maybe have been too much for him."
Huddersfield announced the appointment of former Leeds United manager Simon Grayson yesterday.
