Steve Bruce: 'Hull City forwards punished Everton'

Steve Bruce praises his Hull City strikers for their performances in the 2-0 triumph over Everton on Thursday.

Steve Bruce has singled out Hull City's strikers for praise after his side recorded a 2-0 victory over Everton at the KC Stadium.

Nikica Jelavic scored Hull's second against his former side to secure the points, but Bruce was also keen to reveal his delight with the performance of Abel Hernandez as the Tigers pulled away from the relegation zone.

"Our strikers today were fantastic, they have given Everton a real horrid time," the Hull boss told reporters. "I'm so pleased for Hernandez in particular. We know what he can produce. He's had to adapt to his new surroundings, but today he was terrific.

"We wanted to go and get after Everton and not let them play. To do that we needed a terrific energy.

"This was arguably the best we have played at home and the crowd played their part. They were willing us on from the first minute and were terrific."

Hull travel to the Emirates Stadium to meet Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday.
