Hull City's record signing Abel Hernandez has revealed that he turned down a move to Benfica in favour of joining the Tigers on transfer deadline day.
The Uruguay striker, who joined Hull from Palermo in a deal believed to be worth around £9.5m, said that it has always been his dream to play in the Premier League.
"I had six years at Palermo. I lived beautiful and ugly moments and it was time for a change. I can't wait to start," he told tuttomercatoweb.com.
"I have gone to the best league in the world. Benfica wanted me too but I wanted the Premier League and it will be a wonderful experience. I'm ready to play in England, it has always been my dream. I thank Hull City for opening the door to me. I hope to repay their trust.
"I signed a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year. I will do my best to achieve all the goals, the first is survival."
Hernandez could make his Hull debut against West Ham United on Monday night.
