How Inter Milan could line up against Borussia Dortmund

Sports Mole looks at how Inter Milan could line up for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund at the San Siro.

Inter Milan host Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night looking for their first win in this year's Champions League.

Antonio Conte's side let slip an early lead against Barcelona last time round and they currently sit bottom in the group with just one point from their first two games.

Dortmund, meanwhile, are currently top of the table on goal difference and Lucien Favre's team are yet to concede in this year's competition.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Inter could line up for Wednesday's showdown.

Samir Handanovic is expected to continue in goal for Inter on Wednesday despite conceding three goals from the four shots on target he faced against Sassuolo on Sunday.

Experienced defender Diego Godin was rested at the weekend but he should be restored to the team to partner Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij in defence.

Inter are likely to opt for a slightly more defensive 3-1-4-2 against their German opponents, with Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic the obvious choice to act as the midfield regulator.

With Stefano Sensi still not fully recovered from his recent thigh problems, Nicolo Barella is likely to partner Roberto Gagliardini in the centre of midfield, while Antonio Candreva and Kwadwo Asamoah are expected to start out wide.

Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku both picked up braces at the weekend as they continue to form a strong relationship up front and it is highly doubtful that Conte will make any changes in the striking department.
