Gianluigi Buffon admits disappointment with Antonio Conte Juventus departure

Gianluigi Buffon admits that Antonio Conte's departure is a "great loss" for Juventus.

Gianluigi Buffon has claimed that Juventus are losing a "great coach" following the resignation of Antonio Conte.

It was confirmed on Tuesday evening that Conte would be leaving the club after three successful years as manager, and Buffon believes it is now crucial to quickly continue the good work completed by the 44-year-old.

"It's a great loss, a bolt from the blue, but we are not at year zero - his work will not disappear over two months," the goalkeeper told reporters.

"We are losing a great coach, but we have terrific players and are a forward-thinking club. We are competent and solid. We must now have greater compactness and prove our worth, regardless of Conte."

Reports have suggested that Conte will replace Cesare Prandelli as Italy's head coach.
