Allan Johnstone hails "top quality" Kris Boyd

Allan Johnston describes Kris Boyd as being a "top quality striker" following his goal against Dunfermline.

Kilmarnock manager Allan Johnston has praised match-winner Kris Boyd, describing him as being a "top quality striker".

The 30-year-old struck the only goal of the game in Killie's slender 1-0 victory against Dunfermline earlier today, ensuring the club would remain in the Scottish Premiership.

"He's a top quality striker," Johnston is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "You just can't give him a chance because he'll finish it off. He's a massive player. His experience is invaluable.

"You're looking to try and keep someone of that quality, even though we know it's going to be very difficult. We definitely want him in our team for next season.

"We've got a new future ahead of us, we're debt free, we've got a good team. I believe in continuity, we're starting off with the same manager. So, we've got all the right ingredients to start the next season very positively."

Boyd has scored 21 goals for the Rugby Park outfit this season.
