Massimo Cellino: 'Leeds United have no manager'

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino questions the managerial qualities of current Whites boss Brian McDermott, saying that the club is "not managed by anyone".

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has questioned the managerial qualities of current Whites boss Brian McDermott, saying that the club is "not managed by anyone".

When Cellino first agreed to buy the club, he sacked McDermott, only to reinstate him soon after as the Italian's ownership was not confirmed.

A couple of turbulent months followed as the ownership situation remained up in the air because of a tax evasion conviction in Cellino's homeland of Italy that resulted in the Football League blocking his takeover.

However, Cellino successfully appealed, with the Football League reluctantly allowing the 57-year-old to take control.

After a mid-table finish in 2013-14, Cellino is now attempting to build for next season and in an interview with ITV's 'Calendar', he seemed to hit out at McDermott.

"I think at this moment the club is not managed by anyone," he said.

"Who's managing this club? Brian. Where's Brian?"

McDermott wants to stay at Leeds for next season, but he is yet to get assurance from Cellino that he will be kept in charge.
