Nigel Pearson urges players to focus on promotion

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson says that he is not worried about his future at the club, and wants his players to focus on promotion, not contracts.

Leicester City's Nigel Pearson has called on his players to focus on securing promotion from the Championship, rather than the ongoing contractual situation of some of the squad.

The contracts of Pearson and 10 first-team players are due to expire in the summer, but the manager says that the important thing is to concentrate on football matters following Friday night's 4-1 win against Derby County.

"It's a common occurrence in football and nothing out of the ordinary. But progress has been made in certain areas regarding that issue and players' representatives are in discussions with the club," Pearson told Sky Sports News.

"But the important thing is we keep our focus on the job in hand. You don't often get this opportunity in this division to be a front-runner the way we are and we need to keep winning games and moving forward."

Regarding his own future at the club, Pearson added that he doesn't require "any reassurance".

"I don't need any reassurance, nor am I seeking any. I'm quite happy with the situation I'm in," he added.

The Foxes are seven points clear at the top of the league.
