Preview: Leicester City vs. Norwich City - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Premier League clash between Leicester City and Norwich City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Since this article was published, this game has been called off due to a coronavirus outbreak in the Norwich squad. A new date for the game will be confirmed in due course.

Leicester City will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League when they welcome Norwich City to the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Foxes will enter the contest off the back of a 1-0 victory over Liverpool, while basement side Norwich suffered a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last time out.

Leicester were the huge underdogs entering Tuesday's clash with Liverpool considering the number of first-team players that were unavailable for selection, but the Foxes managed to record a 1-0 victory, with Ademola Lookman coming up with the only goal of the contest just before the hour.

Brendan Rodgers's side will again be without a number of key individuals for this contest, but they will be confident of overcoming the league's basement side, who have lost each of their last five in England's top flight.

Leicester have largely struggled for consistency this season, with a total of 25 points from 18 matches leaving them in ninth position in the table, some 10 points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.

It seems unlikely that the Foxes will be able to challenge for a top-four spot this term, which will have to go down as a disappointment, but they now have three winnable league fixtures against Norwich, Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion, in addition to facing Watford in the FA Cup.

The FA Cup holders recorded a 2-1 victory over Norwich when the two teams locked horns in the Premier League earlier this season, while they have never lost a home top-flight fixture against the Canaries.

Norwich, meanwhile, will enter this weekend's contest off the back of a 3-0 defeat at Palace, which made it five straight losses in England's top flight and seven matches without a victory.

Dean Smith's side are bottom of the table, having picked up just 10 points from their opening 19 matches, but they are only three points behind 17th-placed Watford and still very much in with a fighting chance of staying in the Premier League for another campaign.

The Canaries have worryingly only scored eight Premier League goals this season and conceded 42, which is the joint-worst defensive record in the division alongside fellow strugglers Newcastle United.

Norwich's last two away matches in the league have finished 3-0 to the hosts, with Tottenham Hotspur and Palace securing the three points, but the strugglers beat Brentford on the road at the start of last month.

Smith's team will take on Leicester, Everton and Watford in the Premier League next month, while Charlton Athletic are their opponents in the third round of the FA Cup.

Team News

Leicester will again be without a number of first-team players for this match, with Wesley Fofana, Ricardo Pereira, Caglar Soyuncu, Patson Daka, James Justin, Ryan Bertrand and Jonny Evans all out.

Jamie Vardy has also been ruled out for the next 'three to four weeks' with a hamstring injury, but James Maddison is available despite picking up a knock against Liverpool, while Harvey Barnes is likely to return to the matchday squad following a period out of action.

Lookman and Youri Tielemans could both come into the starting XI for this match, but midfielders Daniel Amartey and Wilfred Ndidi should continue at the heart of the defence.

As for Norwich, Grant Hanley, Christoph Zimmermann, Andrew Omobamidele, Tim Krul, Mathias Normann, Max Aarons and Todd Cantwell are all unavailable.

Meanwhile, Dimitris Giannoulis, Milot Rashica and Teemu Pukki remain doubts for Smith's side, who could move off the bottom of the Premier League table with a win.

Adam Idah will again lead the line if Pukki cannot recover, while Brandon Williams, Kieran Dowell and Joshua Sargent are pushing to come into the starting XI for the visitors.

Leicester City possible starting lineup:
Schmeichel; Castagne, Amartey, Ndidi, Thomas; Tielemans, Soumare, Dewsbury-Hall; Maddison, Iheanacho, Lookman

Norwich City possible starting lineup:
Gunn; Byram, Kabak, Gibson, Williams; Lees-Melou, McLean; Sargent, Dowell, Tzolis; Idah

We say: Leicester City 1-0 Norwich City

Leicester will again be missing a number of important players, but Norwich have selection issues of their own, and we are expecting the Foxes to pick up another three points, albeit by the narrowest of margins.
