Raheem Sterling talks up Anfield atmosphere

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling talks up the Anfield atmosphere after the Reds' 4-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has talked up the Anfield atmosphere following the Reds' victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The five-time European Cup winners hammered Spurs 4-0 to go top of the Premier League, and the 19-year-old praised the fans for their support.

Sterling is also hoping that Champions League football brings about similar atmospheres next season.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "It is the first time I have seen the fans like that. I've heard about it in the Champions League – but it was great to see it, not only on Sunday but against Sunderland in midweek.

"The manager said beforehand that it was great to have them behind us, our 12th man. The atmosphere coming to the stadium and in the stadium was really good.

"From what I've heard from the likes of Jon Flanagan and Steven Gerrard, the atmosphere (for Champions League games) is something to dream about. As players, we know what the dream is, we are working hard for it, and hopefully that dream can become a reality."

Brendan Rodgers's side travel to West Ham United on Sunday.
