Roma legend Francesco Totti suggests that he is 'not too surprised' by the form of Liverpool frontman Mohamed Salah since his departure from the Giallorossi last summer.

Roma legend Francesco Totti has revealed that he has not been too surprised by the form of Mohamed Salah following his move to Liverpool.

The Egyptian forward left the Rome club last summer and has since bagged 31 Premier League goals in 33 games, moving the 25-year-old level for the record of most goals scored in a season in the division alongside the likes of Alan Shearer and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jurgen Klopp's charges take on Roma on Tuesday night in the semi-finals of the Champions League, and Totti has insisted that his club face a tough encounter when Salah takes on his old teammates.

"Salah? This season I've seen a number of games of Liverpool, especially because Mo Salah is now playing there, I've been following [them] consistently," said Totti, according to Football Italia.

"Especially after the draw, over the past few days I've been watching their Champions League games and I really think it's going to be a tough game for both teams.

"To some extent, it surprises me that [Salah] has been doing so well in his first season at Liverpool. But, on the other hand, considering the quality of the squad, the coach they have - Klopp, to me, is one of the best coaches in the world - it didn't surprise me.

"They put him in the condition to express himself at his best."

Salah has scored 41 goals in all competitions for Liverpool this term and is just six short of Ian Rush's record for the most Reds' goals in a season.
