Jurgen Klopp waiting on fitness updates on injured Liverpool duo

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that both Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino are injury doubts ahead of their EFL Cup clash with Leeds United.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he is waiting on a fitness update on Roberto Firmino ahead of the EFL Cup tie with Leeds United.

Klopp has ruled Adam Lallana out of the match at Anfield, while he has hinted that Daniel Sturridge is set to miss out after failing to take part in training on Monday.

However, while Firmino is a doubt after picking up a knock at the weekend, Klopp has hinted that he will give the Brazilian a chance to prove his fitness.

The 49-year-old told reporters: "Adam is close to being back in training but he won't be ready.

"Daniel isn't in training and we will have to wait on Firmino. We will have to see how he is after training today."

Philippe Coutinho will definitely miss the quarter-final contest after suffering an ankle injury against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.
