Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirms that Thiago Alcantara is back in training ahead of Tuesday's Premier League clash with Leicester City.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Thiago Alcantara is back on the training pitches after recovering from coronavirus.

The former Bayern Munich man is one of four senior players - alongside Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones - to have tested positive for COVID-19 in recent weeks.

Van Dijk, Fabinho and Jones all returned to training before Christmas, and Klopp has now confirmed that Thiago has followed suit ahead of Tuesday's Premier League battle with Leicester City.

"The boys who had to isolate, or had COVID, are back. That means Fab, Virgil, Curtis and Thiago. Thiago was the latest, he came back and trained yesterday for the first time with the team," Klopp told reporters at a press conference.

"We have one young player who is now isolating and two staff. It's really tricky, every morning when you come in it's a little bit like a lottery. You hope it's all fine and then one case... that's the situation, but apart from that we are fine."

However, the Reds are still without the injured quartet of Nat Phillips, Divock Origi, Harvey Elliott and Adrian for the midweek contest.
