John Aldridge: "Aly Cissokho is really struggling"

Liverpool legend John Aldridge says that he wants to see Aly Cissokho dropped from the side.

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has called for Aly Cissokho to be dropped from the side.

The French defender has found it difficult to settle at Anfield since his loan move from Valencia, and former striker Aldridge reckons that Glen Johnson would be a better fit in the left-back slot.

Aldridge told the Liverpool Echo: "What's clear is that left-back is a real problem area for the manager. I don't want to be too critical but we can all see that Aly Cissokho is really struggling.

"It's been an issue since Jose Enrique got injured. Jon Flanagan did really well when he came into the side but since he's been out Cissokho's limitations have been exposed.

"In the short term I'd solve it by playing Glen Johnson on the left and then either Martin Kelly or Flanagan on the right."

The Reds are currently fourth in the Premier League.
