John Aldridge wants to see video technology introduced

John Aldridge calls for the introduction of video technology in the Premier League.

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has called for video technology to be introduced in the Premier League.

Aldridge declared himself unimpressed with a number of decisions of late, and said that it was about time the officials were allowed to see footage immediately after incidents to help them make the crucial calls.

"There is so much at stake that we should be using technology to ensure they get the big decisions right," Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.

"It's only common sense that the fourth official should be watching incidents again on a monitor. It would help the referees rather than hinder them.

"Premier League refs have taken a pounding [of late] and rightly so."

Meanwhile, Sunderland defender Wes Brown's red card against Stoke City on Saturday has been rescinded.
