Joe Allen: 'Liverpool must keep pressure on'

Joe Allen reveals that he is eager for Liverpool to keep on the tails of the teams above them as they battle for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Joe Allen has urged his Liverpool teammates to keep piling pressure on the teams above them as they fight for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

The Reds moved to within four points of fourth-placed Manchester City on Monday thanks to a 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Anfield.

Allen, who found the net against Newcastle, now wants the Merseysiders to put a positive run of results together during the remainder of the season.

"Our job now is simple: we have to keep piling pressure on the teams above us," he told the club's official website. "We have to take care of our business. I think the other teams understand that we're going to do everything, so they can't slip up because they know that we're on their tails."

Liverpool continue their FA Cup campaign on Sunday when they face Aston Villa in the semi-finals at Wembley Stadium.
