Joe Allen: 'Luis Suarez couldn't reject Barcelona'

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen accepts that Luis Suarez would have found it hard to turn down Barcelona's offer.

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has accepted that the allure of Barcelona was too hard for Luis Suarez to turn down.

The Uruguayan forward will be turning out for Barca when his biting ban is up at the end of October, after the two clubs agreed a £75m deal earlier this month, and Allen said that a switch to the La Liga giants would prove hard for most players to reject.

In a Q&A session on Twitter, the Wales international said: "Disappointed [Suarez chose to leave]. He's world class but you always sensed if Barca or [Real] Madrid came in, he'd find it difficult to turn them down."

Liverpool have spent around £60m so far this summer on deals for Emre Can, Lazar Markovic, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert.
