Liverpool's Kenny Dalglish hopes that Fabio Capello will be "intelligent" when considering Steven Gerrard for England duty next month.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish believes that Fabio Capello should be "intelligent" regarding Steven Gerrard when he picks his England squad to face Montenegro in their next Euro 2012 qualifier.

The 31-year-old, who has been sidelined with a groin injury for six months, returned to the Reds' side for 12 minutes in their 2-1 win over Brighton in the Carling Cup third round yesterday (Wednesday).

Despite Dalglish saying that it was "great to see him back", the Scot believes that England need to be cautious over the midfielder.

"I don't pick England's team. Whatever they have to do, they have to do,"
Dalglish said. "I just hope they are as intelligent as what we have been."

England's 2012 qualifier against Montenegro is scheduled for Friday, October 7.
