Stewart Downing believes that his Liverpool teammate Jose Enrique has the ability to play for World Cup winners Spain.
The 25-year-old full-back, who joined the Reds in summer along with Downing, has yet to receive a call-up to the national squad.
England international Downing has also revealed that he enjoys playing in front of his fellow left-footer.
"We seemed to have clicked straight away and he's a talented player," Downing told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"He's done very well and I think playing the way he is, he's got a great chance of getting in the Spain squad."
Enrique has previously represented his country at under-21 level.
