Steven Gerrard: My career won't "fizzle out"

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard claims that he does not want to see his career "fizzle out" without any more silverware.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has claimed that he doesn't want to see his career "fizzle out" without any more success.

Gerrard turned 34 back in May and hinted that the close of the 2015-2016 season could be his swansong for the Reds, but the ex-England skipper is eyeing more trophies before he ends his playing days.

He told the Anfield Wrap: "For me, I want to make the most of my last couple of years, I don't want it to fizzle out and I don't want people to look at me as if I'm just here to see out my career.

"I'm here to win and certainly this season and maybe next year I want to finish on a high note and the only way for that to happen would be to try to get a trophy in the bag and to keep Champions League here."

Gerrard was part of the Liverpool side that lost 3-1 to West Ham United on Saturday.
