Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that the Premier League do not help teams playing European football with their fixture scheduling.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has criticised the Premier League for scheduling their fixture with Swansea City for Sunday.

Liverpool have already played twice this week, losing to both West Bromwich Albion and Zenit St Petersburg.

The Merseyside club will also play the return leg against Zenit on Thursday and Rodgers believes that the Premier League could have arranged the Swansea match for a later date.

Rodgers told reporters: "I was very disappointed with the Premier League. The actual game itself wasn't scheduled until the 24th and there were numbers of weeks after that where we could have played the game.

"They actually put it in in a week where we've played on a Monday and played on a Thursday in an away trip to Russia. Then they put it inbetween where we have another important European second leg game the following Thursday.

"I think it was another example of where the Premier League in this country don't help the teams whatsoever."

Liverpool will move ahead of Swansea in the Premier League table if they can win at Anfield.
