Brendan Rodgers: 'Ludogorets Razgrad win has boosted Liverpool'

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers wants the Reds to build on their Champions League win in midweek for Saturday's trip to West Ham United.

Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that Liverpool's win over Ludogorets Razgrad can help get their domestic season back on track against West Ham United this weekend.

The Reds kicked off their Champions League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Ludogorets on a dramatic night at Anfield on Tuesday, with Steven Gerrard netting a last-gasp penalty.

The victory came days after Liverpool lost 1-0 to Aston Villa - their second Premier League defeat of the season - but Rodgers hopes that the manner of their midweek win can aid his troops at Upton Park on Saturday.

"Against Villa we weren't at our level in the final third and Villa defended well," Rodgers told reporters.

"We moved on from that, got a great result [against Ludogorets] and the perspective after a couple of days makes it a good result.

"We showed the character and the mental qualities that successful teams have to come through and win the game, something we'll look to take into the weekend."

Saturday's clash is scheduled to kick off at 5.30pm.
