Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has praised Raheem Sterling for his impressive performances this season.

The 19-year-old has been a key player for his club and has scored seven goals to help them into second place in the Premier League table.

He is expected to feature for England in their friendly with Denmark on Wednesday evening, and Rodgers believes that Sterling has all the qualities needed to be a success on the international stage.

"I just think that a year or so down the line from his first cap, England will be seeing a player with much greater maturity and a young player who has produced in big games," The Mirror quotes him as saying.

"He's a kid who's just turned 19 but he's a father now, that brings maturity into your life and he's coping with that remarkably well.

"You see a young player who's getting stronger and stronger every day; a young player who, tactically, has improved his level impressively."

Sterling has won one cap for England, with his debut coming in a 4-2 defeat away to Sweden.
