Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has suggested that Andy Carroll could be due a recall to the England squad.
The Liverpool striker recently scored winning goals at Blackburn Rovers and in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Everton.
Shearer, who briefly managed the 23-year-old on Tyneside, now believes that he is hitting the sort of form that could see him back in the national side.
"He will not thank anyone for saying it but at least his winning goals this week have got people talking about him and the England team again," Shearer told The Sun. "Three months ago nobody would have been mentioning it.
"The last two games have gone well and he will know it was just the start for him.
"He will have great hopes this continues and after that, who knows, the England situation could be back on."
Carroll earned his last England cap in March 2011 against Ghana.
