Lille play down reports Divock Origi will join Liverpool this month

Lille director Jean-Michel Vandamme says that a deal to send Divock Origi to Liverpool early from his loan is unlikely to happen.

Lille director Jean-Michel Vandamme has attempted to calm speculation that Divock Origi will join Liverpool this month.

The Reds signed the Belgium international back in the summer for £10m but agreed to loan the forward back to Lille until the end of the season.

Reports have claimed that Liverpool are in talks with the French club regarding a possible £3m fee, which could free up Origi to move to Anfield early.

However, Vandamme has told Sky Sports Italia reporter Guglielmo Cannavale that Liverpool would need to pay in the region of €6m (£4.7m) for the 19-year-old and he believes that a deal is unlikely to be struck.

Liverpool are said to be keen to bring Origi into the fold due to their struggling goalscoring form.
