Zenit St Petersburg attacker Sardar Azmoun has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Liverpool.
The Merseyside giants are yet to make a first-team signing this summer, although Jurgen Klopp remains keen to make additions in a number of areas ahead of the new campaign.
However, according to Soviet Sport, the Champions League winners are considering a surprise move for Azmoun, dubbed the 'Iranian Messi'.
The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to Wolverhampton Wanderers in January, only for that transfer to break down due to the fee being demanded by Rubin Kazan.
The forward's valuation has only risen over the past six months as a result of nine goals being netted from 12 league appearances for Zenit.
Liverpool allegedly had scouts in attendance when Azmoun represented Zenit against Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian Super Cup last weekend.
