Liverpool have reportedly missed out on the signing of Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, who allegedly wishes to join Bayern Munich.
Pepe's impressive campaign in Ligue 1, in which he contributed 22 goals and 11 assists, has inevitably led to widespread interest in his signature.
Liverpool - fresh off the back of winning the Champions League last weekend - were suggested to be Pepe's most likely destination earlier this week due to the Merseyside giants being prepared to meet Lille's £70m valuation.
However, according to The Sun, Bayern Munich are now considered favourites to win the race for the Ivory Coast international.
The Bundesliga champions require replacements for Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, which has seemingly led to the German club making a strong bid to sign the 24-year-old.
Lille are said to have accepted that Pepe will leave this summer, despite their qualification for the Champions League.
