Report: Liverpool hold talks with Jan Vertonghen

Liverpool reportedly hold talks with Jan Vertonghen's representatives regarding a possible move to Anfield from Tottenham Hotspur in January.

Liverpool have reportedly contacted Jan Vertonghen's representatives regarding a possible move for the Tottenham Hotspur defender.

The Reds have struggled particularly in the defensive department this season, with summer arrival Dejan Lovren failing to make a significant impact.

According to The Express, reports have emerged claiming that Liverpool have already held talks with the Belgian's agents ahead of the January transfer window.

Vertonghen, who previously suggested that he would consider leaving White Hart Lane, has been linked to Liverpool's arch rivals Manchester United in the past.

The Merseyside outfit, who crashed out of the Champions League last night, spent more than £100m on nine new signings in the summer transfer window.
