Jan Vertonghen upbeat despite draw with Crystal Palace

Jan Vertonghen insists that Tottenham can take plenty of positives from their 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has insisted that there are plenty of positives to take from the team's goalless draw at home to Crystal Palace.

Spurs dropped more points at home in the Premier League on Saturday as they were held by the Eagles at White Hart Lane.

The hosts wasted numerous chances in front of goal during the match, but Vertonghen believes that he and his teammates did their best against difficult opposition.

"We did our best to break them down, but they were tough and defended well and dangerous up front, so it was very difficult," he told the club's official website.

"We gave a couple of chances away and too many set pieces, nine corners against us was too much, but we kept a clean sheet and that's good. We didn't lose and that's important."

Saturday's match against Palace saw Vertonghen make his 100th appearance for Tottenham.
