Lyon secured a place in the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue with a 2-1 win over Marseille this evening.

Yoann Gourcuff put the home side ahead in the first half, before Bafetimbi Gomis doubled their lead after the break.

There was a late scare for Lyon when Andre Pierre Gignac scored a penalty to bring the visitors back into contention.

Good evening! It's around half an hour until kickoff at Stade de Gerland, where Lyon and Marseille will both be looking to secure a place in the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue. Let's take a look at the team news.

LYON STARTING XI: A. Lopes, M. Lopes, Bisevac, Umtiti, Bedimo, Gonalons, Fofana, Grenier, Gourcuff, Lacazette, Gomis

MARSEILLE STARTING XI: Mandanda, Morel, Mendes, Nkoulou, Fanni, Ramao, Imbula, Lemina, Payet, Thauvin, Khalifa

The home side have the formidable duo of Clement Grenier and Alexandre Lacazette among their goal-scoring options this evening. However, Marseille's top goal scorer, Andre-Pierre Gignac starts on the bench this evening.

Both sides come into this match in mixed form. Marseille sit just outside the European places, but have won just once in their last five matches in Ligue 1. Lyon are unbeaten in their last five, but three of those games finished in draws, leaving them ninth in the table.

Neither of these two sides reached this round last year, but both will surely be keen to prolong their stay in the Coupe de la Ligue. Last year saw both knocked out in the round of 16.

In the previous round, Lyon knocked out Reims in another home fixture, while Marselle edged to a victory over Toulouse.

These two actually met in the final of this competition just two seasons ago, with Marseille taking home the trophy following extra time.

Earlier we took a look at the staring lineup, now let's have a quick look at those that could feature later in the match...

LYON SUBSTITUTES: Gorgelin, Zeffane, Kone, Malbranque, Fekir, Briand, Mua Njie

MARSEILLE SUBSTITUTES: Samba, Abdallah, Diawara, Mendy, Cheyrou, Valbuena, Gignac

This is the last of the four quarter-finals to be played. Paris Saint-Germain, Nantes and Troyes from Ligue 2 are already through to the last four.

PREDICTION! There's just time for a quick prediction before play gets underway. When the sides met just last month it was a stalemate, but Lyon's form has improved since then, while Marseille have struggled a little, and the home side have been tough to beat on their own ground this season. I think I'm going to go for a 2-1 Lyon win.

The players are now heading onto the pitch ready for kickoff.

Lyon get the match underway.

Lyon look to start on the front foot, immediately heading into Marseille's half, but their forced back, before Fofana appears to pick up a knock, but he's quickly back on his feet. Neither side have had a chance to open the scoring yet.

Marseille secure the first corner of the match, but Mendes's header from the edge of the six-yard box goes well wide.

Umtiti plays the ball out from the back for Lyon, eventually trying to set up the in-form Lacazette, but Mandanda is able to get a hand to the ball before the striker unleashes his finish. It looks like both sides are pushing for an early goal this evening.

Lyon have their first corner of the game, but it falls for Bisevac, who heads it up rather than down into the goal, failing to trouble Mandanda.

CHANCE! The home side win a free kick around 25 yards out, with Yoann Gourcuff stepping up to take it. The midfielder, who is usually strong from set pieces from this range, curls it in accurately, but his shot lacks power, giving Mandanda an easy save.

CHANCE! Lyon look like they're starting to really take control here as Fofana tries to play the ball in for Lacazette, but Mandanda just manages to tip it wide. Lacazette gets another chance from the corner, but he slices it just wide with a half-volley.

Marseille go on the counter-attack, and almost come up with a decent chance, but Bisevac manages to head away Khelifa's cross before Thauvin can get the finish in. It has certainly looked like Lyon are the more likely to open the scoring so far, but the visitors are doing enough to remind them what could happen if they relax at the back.

Lyon are on the attack again, and Lacazette charges into the box, but he also clatters into Mendes, giving the visitors a free kick.

CHANCE! The best chance of the match so far falls to Bafetimbi Gomis, but he tries to catch out the Marseille defence by pulling it back for Grenier. Gomis eventually regathers it, but Fanni is able to turn it behind for a corner.

The fouls are starting to creep up a little, with Romoa ploughing into the back of Fofana around 35 yards out, giving Lyon a free kick.

GOAL! Lyon 1-0 Marseille (Gourcuff)

Grenier goes for goal from the free kick, but it's saved by Mandanda. However, the Marseille keeper and captain spills the ball, allowing Gourcuff to pounce from close range, smashing it into the back of the net to put the home side ahead.

BOOKING! The fouls are really starting to cost Marseille now as Rod Fanni picks up the first booking of the match for a clumsy challenge on N'same, which also gives Lyon another free kick from a similar position that they scored.

Grenier curls it in superbly in front of goal, with Mandanda and Umtiti both looking to reach it first, but the Marseille goalkeeper wins the race, preventing Lyon from doubling their lead. Lyon are in complete control at the moment.

Lyon are on the charge again with Grenier looking to play the ball in for Gomis, but his delivery has too much power, and the striker can't reach it in time.

CHANCE! Mandanda is living dangerously in the Marseille goal, as he stops a Lacazette strike, before Gourcuff latches onto the rebound. The visitors' captain keeps it out, but it's hardly a clean save, as he bundles it into his midriff.

CONTROVERSY! There's a rather contentious call by the referee as Khelifa finds himself with only Anthony Lopes to beat after losing Umtiti on the edge of the box. The keeper charges into the striker, and the visitors think that they've won a penalty, but the referee gives the decision against Khelifa for a foul on Umtiti. There was very little contact between the two though, and the collision with Lopes has left Khelifa in some pain. The visitors a clearly aggrieved by the decision.

With Khelifa still off receiving treatment, Lyon try to make the most of their advantage and win a free kick on the edge of the area. The hosts take it quickly, with Marseille clearly not ready. Gourcuff finds himself through on goal, but N'Koulou manages to turn it away with an outstretched leg.

BOOKING! Marseille pick their second yellow card as Dimitrie Payet gets into a physical battle with Henri N'same in midfield, earning himself a booking when he slides two-footed into the back of the defender.

Marseille have a rare chance in the Lyon box, and are almost gifted an opportunity when Gourcuff, helping out at the back, heads the ball towards his own goal, but Lopes is able to punch it away.

CHANCE! Lyon can't believe that they are not two goals ahead, but Mandanda will certainly feel a bit better following a spectacular save in the Marseille goal. Gomis lobs the ball into the box, and it drops with Bisevac. The defender's first effort is blocked, but the second forces a diving save from the Marseille stopper. He dives the wrong way, but does manage to make a save with his outstretched foot.

Gomis tries to create some space in the box again as the game heads into a minute of stoppage time. He can't cross the ball, but does manage to win a corner late in the first half.

HALF TIME: Lyon 1-0 Marseille

The delivery from the corner is too deep, going straight out the other side without being touched to bring an end to an entertaining first half in this Coupe de la Ligue quarter-final.

Yoann Gourcuff's 24th-minute strike separates the sides at this point, but Marseille will feel hard done by, having been denied a possible penalty shortly after going behind when Lyon goalkeeper Lopes collided with Saber Khelifa. The good news for the visitors is that Khelifa was able to continue after the incident, and doesn't seem to be showing any signs of lingering pain.

The visitors have plenty of striking options on the bench, having made five changes for this match, so things aren't over yet. Among the substitutes are leading goalscorer Andre Pierre Gignac, Bentoit Cheyrou and Mathieu Valbuena, all of whom are more than capable in front of goal.

Both sides have had their substitutes out warming up during the break, so changes could be possible early in the second half. With both sides struggling in the league this season, this could be their best chance of European football next year.

Right then, the players are back out ready for the second half.

Marseille get the second half underway.

CHANCE! A high ball into the box falls for Thauvin, who hits it first time from out wide inside the Lyon box, but he just misses the target, finding the side netting instead.

Grenier considers unleashing a strike from 20 yards out, but sports Gomis in space out wide. The striker crosses it in to Lacazette, but the forward slices his shot high into the stands.

So far, this half hasn't matched the attacking style of the first, with the action mainly taking place in midfield, with just the one chance a piece since the restart.

Lyon secure a corner, which Grenier takes short. He eventually manages to cross it back in and it drops for Gomis, who muscles his way around Romoa before shooting, but he drags his shot just wide. However, the flag was up anyway for a foul on the Marseille defender.

Lyon are starting to see the majority of the possession, but Marseille are restricting them much more at the back since the restart. Incidentally, the hosts have officially had 12 shots at goal so far this match, while Marseille have had just the two.

The home side win another conrer, which Gourcuff initially appears to overhit, but Grenier is waiting out the other side to curl it back in, but Mandanda is ready and makes the save.

It looks like the visitors are getting ready to make a change, with Valbuena shedding his tracksuit on the sidelines.

SUB! Indeed they do make the change, with the winger coming on in place of Payet.

CHANCE! Lacazette continued to push for Lyon's second of the night, attempting to drill the ball in from 20 yards out, but he scuffs the shot, which also bobbles wide.

BOOKING! Yoann Gourcuff becomes the first home player to see yellow for a collision with Romao.

The home side have another corner, but it's delayed while the referee slowly walks over the sidelines, as it appears that one of the Marseille coaches has had an exchange of words with the fourth official.

SUB! The visitors make their second change, bringing on their top goalscorer, Gignac, who replaces Khelifa.

Romao gives away a free kick in a dangerous position by barging into Lacazette. The wall does it's job though, deflecting Grenier's delivery behind for a corner.

GOAL! Lyon 2-0 Marseille (Gomis)

What a finish from Bafetimbi Gomis to double the home side's lead. The ball is played in by Grenier from out side, and the striker is their to hit it first time with a powerful finish from the edge of the box.

BOOKING! Gignac picks up a booking for a tackle from behind on Miguel Lopes.

With Marseille having had few decent chances so far this evening, the current scoreline really should be enough to see Lyon through to the last four. However, their last two meeting have ended in draws, and Gignac is starting to find his way into the match.

A foul by Bedimo gives the hosts another free kick. Initially they head backwards, before a Grenier delivery ends up in the hands of Mandanda. However, Gomis picks it up again just outside the penalty area and goes for goal, but is ruled offside, although the Marseille keeper would have made the save anyway.

SUB! It's the final change for Marseille as Morel makes way for Benjamin Mendy. So far, the home side are yet to turn to their subs.

SUBS! Well, here come the changes for the hosts, with the goalscorers, Gomis and Gourcuff, making way for Steed Malbranque and Jimmy Briand for the final five minutes of so.

Gignac applies some late pressure in the Lyon box and wins a corner for the visitors.

PENALTY TO MARSEILLE!

Jimmy Briand handles the ball while trying to clear the corner, so Gignac will have a chance from the spot.

GOAL! Lyon 2-1 Marseille (Gignac pen.)

The striker makes no mistake from the spot, despite having a laser pen shone in his eyes by one of the Lyon supporters. He calmly picks out the bottom right corner to set up a thrilling finish, with three minutes of stoppage time to be played.

BOOKING! Fofana is shown a yellow card, but there could be more to follow as both sides clash is a brawl at the half-way line.

It looks like Fofana's foul was in response to a challenge on Umtiti by Mendy, which then leads to the brawl.

BOOKINGS! Benjamin Mendy and it looked like Milan Bisevic have been the scapegoats from the brawl, with both picking up yellows.

CHANCE! Valbuena almost makes it two for Marseille with a superb strike from just inside the box, but Lopes just gets his fingertips to it to push it wide for a corner, which is swiftly cleared by the hosts.

SUB! Nabil Fekir will come on for Grenier for the last few moments. Unsurprisingly, the Lyon man slowly makes his way to the sideline to waste some time.

FULL TIME: Lyon 2-1 Marseille

So Lyon are through to the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue thanks to goals from Yoann Gourcuff and Bafetimbi Gomis.

Marseille fought hard towards the end, but they left their comeback just a little too late, finishing on the wrong side of a 2-1 defeat.

Lyon complete the semi-final lineup, with Paris Saint-Germain, Nantes and Troyes also through to the last four. That's all from this match, but stick around for results from all of tonight's matches, including Manchester City's FA Cup replay against Blackburn Rovers. Thanks for joining me this evening, goodbye.
