Real Mallorca scored in second-half stoppage time to secure a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo this evening, leapfrogging their opponents at the bottom of La Liga in the process.
The visitors created the first clear chance of the match in the 25 minute when Alex Lopez picked up the ball inside the area before advancing towards the goalkeeper, only to send his eventual shot well wide.
Giovani dos Santos was the first to test the away keeper when he lined up a free kick just outside the area. His effort was goalbound, but Javi Varas was equal to it.
Celta should have broken the deadlock 20 minutes from time when Michael Krohn-Deli's cross was met by Andres Tunez, but Dudu Aouate was out quickly to make a fine save.
The hosts had a fine chance to nick a winner in the 82 minute when Alfaro latched on to Fernando Tissone's pass before curling an effort towards the bottom corner, but Varas got down well to save.
They did finally make the breakthrough in the 93rd minute when Dos Santos picked up a loose ball in the area before drilling a shot in from close range to nick all three points for his side.
