Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Marseille

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Champions League clash with Marseille on Tuesday evening.

Manchester City will be looking to return to winning ways on Tuesday evening when they travel to the Orange Velodrome to take on Marseille in the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola's side began their European campaign with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Portuguese champions Porto at the Etihad, with the Spaniard still searching for his first taste of Champions League glory with City.

However, the Citizens make the journey across the Channel having been held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham United in the Premier League, with Phil Foden rescuing a point for Guardiola's men after Michail Antonio's impressive opener.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their trip to Marseille.

Sergio Aguero

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Sergio Aguero, who has had a torrid time with injuries as of late, lasted just 45 minutes against West Ham before being forced off with a hamstring problem. The Argentine has not travelled with the squad to Marseille and it remains to be seen how long his layoff will be.

Gabriel Jesus

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: November 21 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

Guardiola's attacking woes do not end there as Aguero's fellow striker Gabriel Jesus is yet to return to training following a thigh problem. The Brazilian is not expected to take to the field again until after the international break.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: October 27 (vs. Marseille)

Guardiola hinted that Aymeric Laporte could have been involved in some capacity against West Ham, but the defender did not make the squad for the trip to the capital. However, Laporte has made the journey across the Channel and could make his return to action in midweek.

Nathan Ake

Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: October 31 (vs. Sheffield United)

Ake was forced to sit out the stalemate with West Ham with a tight groin and will play no part against Marseille either, although the return of Oleksandr Zinchenko has eased Guardiola worries on the left-hand side of defence.

Fernandinho

Status: Out
Type of injury: Leg
Possible return date: November 21 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

Fernandinho made a very brief cameo appearance against Porto before being quickly forced off with a leg injury. The Brazilian played no part against West Ham but should not be out for longer than a month, Guardiola confirmed.

Benjamin Mendy

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: November 21 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

While one-left back in Zinchenko has now returned to the fold, Benjamin Mendy is likely to be sidelined for another few weeks, ruling him out of action until after the November international break.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man City have no suspension concerns for the midweek clash with Marseille.
