Fernandinho confident of Manchester City success

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho believes that his side should be aiming for success on multiple fronts this season.

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has insisted that his side are capable of fighting on multiple fronts this season, despite losing three of their first nine Premier League games.

City's start to the campaign has been blighted by poor away form, which continued on Sunday as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to title rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

He told Perform: "I keep hearing all the time that this will be one of the greatest tournaments (Premier League) in the last years.

"That's because there are so many clubs fighting for the title with real chances, six teams with real chances. Each team started this season on its own way. Our team started really well, then we had some bad results but now we could get everything together again.

"Our aim is really clear [in Europe]. Our goal is to be in the [Champions League] final in Lisbon on May 25. All of us have this aim to be in this final. We started the tournament with a new team. A team that was being rebuilt. We had some tough moments but the team is coping well with that.

The Brazilian has been a consistent feature for City so far this season after becoming manager Manuel Pellegrini's first signing at the Etihad Stadium, playing 12 times in all competitions.
