Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Burnley

Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League fixture against Burnley.

Manchester City return to action on Saturday afternoon as they bid to strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League table against Burnley.

Having won just four of their last seven league fixtures, City's advantage over Liverpool has been reduced to one point, leaving Pep Guardiola's team at risk of dropping into second position on Saturday.

Nevertheless, while Liverpool play Watford in the early kickoff, Guardiola and his squad will be focused on trying to dent Burnley's survival bid.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at City's injury and suspension news ahead of the showdown at Turf Moor.

Ruben Dias

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: April 10 (vs. Liverpool)

After sustaining a hamstring injury at the beginning of March, it was feared that Ruben Dias would be absent for up to six weeks. However, such has been the Portuguese's progress that he could come back into contention next week, providing that Guardiola is prepared to take a risk on his fitness.

John Stones

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: April 2 (vs. Burnley)

John Stones was forced to miss the latest England double-header due to a groin issue, even if it was described as being precautionary. The defender will be further assessed by City before a decision is made about the weekend.

Ederson

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: April 2 (vs. Burnley)

Ederson was another City player to miss out on international duty, the goalkeeper remaining sidelined due to illness. Like with Stones, the Brazilian stopper will be further assessed ahead of the trip to Turf Moor.
