Samir Nasri, David Silva out of Manchester City's Newcastle United trip

Samir Nasri and David Silva are ruled out of Manchester City's midweek trip to Newcastle United with injury.

Samir Nasri and David Silva have been ruled out of Manchester City's game at struggling Newcastle United on Tuesday night.

An ankle injury kept Silva out of Saturday's victory over Chelsea while Nasri picked up a muscular injury during the encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini also revealed in his pre-match press conference that skipper Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling will be fit enough to feature at St James' Park after time out with calf and groin problems respectively.

"Sterling and Kompany are both in the squad. Vincent will be an important help for the defence," he said. "It's been a very important season and we have to keep fighting for important things.

"Sterling is coming back from an important injury and we'll see if he can play some minutes tomorrow. It depends on the way he returns."

City will look to make it four league wins in a row for the second time this season at Newcastle, who would move out of the Premier League relegation zone with a victory over the Champions League-chasers.
