Manchester City play down the seriousness of Owen Hargreaves's latest injury.

Manchester City have played down the seriousness of Owen Hargreaves's most recent injury after the former England star was ruled out of their Carling Cup fourth-round tie at Wolves with a calf knock.

Hargreaves, whose time at rivals Manchester United was plagued by repeated knee injuries, received a kick to the calf in training but the injury has been described as "nothing much".

"There is no worry about it," said first team coach David Platt. "He has got a little niggle that because it is Owen Hargreaves we are talking about it.

"It is nothing much, it is just a kick in the calf. We have had it scanned and there is no pull or anything.

"He has not broken down. If he had broken down we would be talking about him being out for three or four weeks but that is not the case."

Hargreaves has made just two appearances for City since moving from United in the summer.

He scored in his first appearance against Birmingham five weeks ago and came on as a late substitute in the 4-1 Premier League win over Aston Villa on October 15.
