Manchester City's Kelechi Iheanacho: 'We must improve'

Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho admits that his team were not defensively good enough in Sunday's 4-2 defeat at Southampton in the Premier League.

Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has insisted that his team 'must improve defensively' if they are to stand a chance of overcoming Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals next week.

Iheanacho struck twice for his side in Sunday's Premier League clash at Southampton, but could not prevent the European semi-finalists from losing 4-2 to Ronald Koeman's side at St Mary's.

The teenager has claimed that "many things went wrong", but is confident that the defeat will be forgotten about by the time that they travel to the Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

"Many things went wrong in our team. We lost so many balls and didn't defend well," Kelechi told reporters. "I think we're going to come stronger in the next game. This game didn't give us enough encouragement. But we will put it behind us and focus on the Real Madrid game."

Iheanacho's brace against the Saints took him onto 13 goals for the season.
