Manuel Pellegrini: 'Frank Lampard is a brilliant professional'

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini describes Frank Lampard as a "brilliant professional" as he prepares to play his final game in the Premier League.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has backed midfielder Frank Lampard to have an "important impact" at New York City FC.

On Sunday, Lampard will make his final Premier League appearance before making the switch to the MLS, and Pellegrini has praised the former England international as he brings down the curtain on a 19-year Premier League career.

The 61-year-old told reporters: "Frank is a wonderful, important player here in the Premier League. He is brilliant, a great professional. I am sure that he will have an important impact with New York."

Lampard has scored seven times in 37 appearances since moving to the Etihad Stadium last summer.
