Spanish left-back Angelino is set to return to Manchester City at the end of the season as RB Leipzig are unable to trigger the right-to-buy clause in his loan contract.

Julian Nagelsmann has admitted that RB Leipzig are unlikely to be able to afford a permanent transfer for Manchester City full-back Angelino.

The 23-year-old joined Leipzig on loan in January and has made 12 appearances for the Bundesliga side in all competitions.

Leipzig have the option to sign Angelino for £25m in the summer, but Nagelsmann cannot see a deal being agreed for the Spaniard, nor fellow loanee Patrick Schick.

"I think we'll manage to get into the top four this season and gain Champions League qualification," he told Bild.

"Even if that does happen, I believe we probably won't purchase Schick and Angelino. We cannot waste resources, even if we do qualify for the Champions League.

"We have a rigorous plan and a budget that has to be respected. If we don't sell players, it's unlikely we'll be able to bring in new ones."

Angelino, who only rejoined City last summer, has previously been touted as a possible target for Barcelona.
