Arsenal's Danny Welbeck ruled out of trip to face Manchester United

Arsene Wenger confirms that Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck will not be included in the squad to face his former club Manchester United on Sunday due to lack of fitness.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Danny Welbeck will play no part in Sunday's trip to face Manchester United due to a lack of fitness.

The French boss poured doubt over Welbeck's return to face his former club yesterday, and the striker has now been completely ruled out.

A knee injury has hampered the England international, whose last appearance was in the Gunners' goalless draw with Chelsea last month.

In this morning's press conference, Wenger said: "Welbeck is short for Sunday. I would love to have him available but we will have to do without him."

Two points separate third-placed Arsenal and fourth-positioned United in the Premier League table.
