Ajax manager Erik ten Hag rubbishes rumours linking him with a move to Old Trafford, following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has dismissed rumours linking him to the vacant Manchester United managerial role.

The Dutchman was linked with a move to Old Trafford during a difficult run under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and, following the departure of the Norwegian boss on Sunday, rumours continue to swirl.

However, Ten Hag has played down questions over a switch to England, telling reporters: "My focus is on Ajax, the rest only distracts."

When asked further about his future, the 51-year-old said: "It's a weird question. I heard nothing about it [Man United job], so I can't think about it."

The Ajax boss has been said to be open to discussions with the Red Devils, should they make a concrete approach, with Michael Carrick taking temporary charge of the eight-placed side while the hierarchy search for a Solskjaer replacement.

Under Ten Hag's tutelage, Ajax currently sit at the summit of the Eredivisie, while they also boast a perfect record in the Champions League, winning all four of their group games so far, having scored 14 goals and conceded just two at the other end of the pitch.
