Ryan Giggs: 'Paul Scholes retired too early'

Ryan Giggs believes that Paul Scholes retired too early before making his Manchester United comeback last month.

Ryan Giggs has claimed that Paul Scholes announced his retirement too early before making his recent comeback for Manchester United.

The midfielder, who quit at the end of last season, made a shock return to the United fold for last month's FA Cup tie against Manchester City.

"I thought he'd retired too early - a lot of people did," Giggs told Inside United.

"Scholesy probably thought he'd made up his mind and when you've done that, you can't really change it, but he was still the best in training with the reserves, so he obviously felt he could still do it.

"Nobody was going to disagree with that and it was a massive boost when we found out he was coming back before the Manchester City game."

The Red Devils next travel to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
