Gary Neville doubts Manchester United can win Premier League title this season

Gary Neville believes that Manchester United are unlikely to win the Premier League this season unless they secure a number of new players.

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville believes that it is 'unrealistic' to suggest that Louis van Gaal will guide the Red Devils to Premier League glory this season.

The North-West outfit finished seventh under ex-manager David Moyes in the 2013-14 campaign, but expectations have been raised following the arrival of former Netherlands boss Van Gaal.

The club have acquired the signatures of midfielder Ander Herrera and left-back Luke Shaw this summer, but Neville believes that United need a few more additions in order to launch a title bid.

"Unless two or three players come in I don't think it's realistic that he can win the league this year," Neville told Sky Sports News.

"Although there is a potential with what Liverpool did in the fact they had free weeks of Saturday to Saturday, continual perfect preparation. That's a big advantage for United if they get onto some momentum."

United will begin the new season with a clash against Swansea City at Old Trafford on Saturday.
