Gary Neville says that Manchester United's performances during the 2021-22 campaign have been "nowhere near good enough".

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has said that the team's performances during the 2021-22 campaign have been "nowhere near good enough".

A disappointing run of form has seen the Red Devils win just one of their last five matches in all competitions, while they have only picked up one point from their last three Premier League matches.

Neville has slammed his former side for their "shoddy" performances this season, and the pundit believes that the 20-time English champions are now being exposed by "half-decent teams".

"There are issues as their performances are nowhere near good enough," Neville told Sky Sports News. "I said a few weeks ago that the moment where they started to play half-decent teams, they're going to struggle. Aston Villa, Everton, Villarreal and Leicester are half decent teams.

"The performances have been so shoddy all season in terms of team performances. There's been some good results and some great individual goals, but the overall performances and the unit in and out of possession have been shoddy.

"It's scrappy and scruffy to watch. When you play a team with a clear organisation and a methodology, you're going to get pulled apart and that's what happened here."

Man United, who suffered a 4-2 defeat at Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, have picked up 14 points from their first eight matches of the 2021-22 Premier League season, which has left them in sixth position in the table, five points behind leaders Chelsea.
