Ivan Perisic camp 'never asked' for release clause in Inter Milan contract

Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio insists that Ivan Perisic's camp did not push for a release clause in his new deal.

Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio has revealed that Ivan Perisic's representatives never requested that a release clause be inserted into the winger's new contract.

The Croatian was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United during the summer, but the two clubs failed to agree a fee.

Perisic has since signed a new two-year deal at San Siro, and notably there is no buyout clause.

The absence of such a stipulation means that it is now even harder for potential suitors to clinch a deal, and if United decide to make a fresh approach for the winger, the price will be driven up.

Despite reports that Perisic was open to moving to Old Trafford, Ausilio has claimed that there were no demands from his camp to have a release clause in place.

"Perisic still had a few years on his contract," the club director told Mediaset Premium. "Nobody ever denied that this offer arrived from Manchester United, but we have been working to convince him to stay at Inter and that our project could be just as successful as Manchester.

"The new contract was a consequence of that and only right. There is no release clause because we did not intend to propose one, nor was it requested by his entourage."

Perisic is now tied to the club until 2022.
