A report claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has forced his way into the reckoning to succeed Jose Mourinho as Manchester United's next permanent manager.

Manchester United are reportedly open to keeping interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in charge on a permanent basis.

The club legend was brought in on a six-month deal in December following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

Solskjaer has made a perfect start to his Old Trafford tenure by winning five games from five, helping to bring the feel-good factor back to United.

Red Devils chiefs are rumoured to have already added the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane and Massimiliano Allegri to their list of managerial targets for the long term, but The Mirror suggests that Solskjaer is also now in contention.

Solskjaer, who comes up against the favourite to replace him in Tottenham Hotspur boss Pochettino this weekend, is said to have made a compelling case with his work over the past three weeks.

United's players have enjoyed working with the 45-year-old and many have already backed him to stay on permanently.
