Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney says that Luis Suarez should have been sent off during Liverpool's 0-0 draw with Tottenham on Monday evening.

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has stated that Liverpool's Luis Suarez should have been sent off during the 0-0 stalemate with Tottenham Hotapur on Monday evening.

Suarez, 25, made his Liverpool comeback as a sub after serving an eight-game ban for racially abusing United defender Patrice Evra. Moments after his introduction, he caught Spurs midfielder Scott Parker with a kick in the stomach and was shown a yellow card.

Rooney has insisted, however, that he should have seen red. He tweeted: "If ref sees that kick from Suarez and books him for it, it should be red."

United and Liverpool face off in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
