Louis van Gaal refuses to blame late arrival for Manchester United loss

Manchester United's late arrival does not excuse their 3-0 loss away at Tottenham Hotspur, according to manager Louis van Gaal.

Louis van Gaal has insisted that his Manchester United side's late arrival cannot be blamed for their 3-0 loss away at Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.

Traffic in London meant that the Red Devils did not turn up at White Hart Lane until around 3.45pm, which meant that the kickoff was moved back 30 minutes until 4.30pm.

Despite the upheaval, Van Gaal admitted that it could not be used as an excuse for the defeat.

"No I don't think [it was to blame]. In the first 20 minutes, we were the better team, I believe. So, I don't believe in that neither. There is no excuse for that, I believe," he told MUTV.

Van Gaal's men return to action on Wednesday night with a FA Cup replay away at West Ham United.
