Louis van Gaal: 'Premier League title more important than Champions League triumph'

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal admits that he would rather win the Premier League title than the Champions League for the second time in his managerial career.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that winning the Premier League title is more important to him than a triumph in the Champions League.

The 64-year-old won the European title in his time as Ajax manager in the 1994-95 season, and has admitted that winning the competition for a second time would be lower on his list of priorities than securing the top-flight crown in England.

Van Gaal told reporters: "For me, it's the Premier League. The Premier League is the greater prize because I have already won the Champions League.

"The Premier League I have never won, so that is more important. "Of course, I should not say that because every title is welcome."

United maintained their push for the title this season by defeating Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday.
