Danny Welbeck faces injury lay-off

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck will be out for four to five weeks with hamstring injury.

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has been ruled out for four to five weeks with a hamstring injury and will miss the upcoming England under-21 internationals.

The 20-year-old netted during United’s 8-2 victory over Arsenal yesterday, but pulled up with a hamstring strain later in the first-half.

"Danny complained of a tight hamstring before he actually pulled it and we couldn't get Hernandez on quick enough," United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told BBC Sport.

"It is a shame for Danny but it will be around four to five weeks."

Welbeck was called up to the England Under-21 squad along with United teammate Phil Jones last week for matches against Azerbaijan and Israel in September.

Welbeck has joined Nemanja Vidic [calf] and Rafael da Silva [shoulder] on the United injury list.
